Kitchen Renovation: Week 1 1/2

June 10, 2011

The kitchen floors are now protected by construction paper and old rugs, a plastic wall partitions off an entire quarter of the house, and Alex has officially begun to demolish the kitchen!  Eeeek!   A full wall of cabinets has already been torn out.  You can see Alex below, pulling off crown molding.

On a completely unrelated note; we’ve finished rehabilitating the linen closet in the hallway.  For the last 18 months, all of the linen closet’s parts (doors, drawers, etc) have been hanging out in our shed with the earwigs and spiders.  All of these parts  had to be cleaned, sanded and painted.  On top of that, the hardware (hinges, drawer pulls, latch)  had to be refinished at the brass shop, and some of the closet’s face frame and drawer rails had to be rebuilt.   The series of pictures below show how much better it looks now!
