Kitchen Renovation Week: A Lot

October 19, 2011

We went to our good friends Spence and Lindsay’s wedding, and while we were gone our flooring contractor patched up the floors.  Right now the new oak that he feathered in looks disconcertingly light, but so did the other patches that he did when we first moved in.  I am holding back judgement on the color for a year or so.  If it still bothers me I guess we’ll need to fix it.

In the mean time, I think he did a great job of making an incredibly difficult transition look natural.

Now that the floors are done, the doors need to be hung and the cabinets are ready to go in.  Yesterday, our contractor pulled most of the base cabinets out and arranged them, which was very exciting, since we finally got to see a shadow of what the kitchen is going to be like.  My first impression was, it’s going to be awesome!

So, we are waiting for the tile for the backsplash to arrive, and I have to get the counters sanded and put up all the remaining trim.  Alexandra has to paint all the windows since we only painted the frames.  Basically we still have a long way to go but we are getting slowly closer to having a working kitchen.
