“Temporary” bathroom remodel – continued

February 25, 2013

First of all, I finally updated our “YEAR in review” page, so if you get a kick out of tallying up our projects (like I do) you can check that out.

Last week we finished up our temporary bathroom remodel.  “Temporary,” because we’re planning to eventually rip out everything and start from scratch.  Anyhow, besides laying new floors and painting the vanity, we sanded and painted all of the wood trim (i.e. windows, door, baseboard, toe moulding, and chair rail).  It’s difficult to appreciate the difference that a little painting and sanding can make without seeing a close up of the window trim as it has been for the last three (three!!) years.

This is what I’ve had to stare at when showering over the past three years.

We’re still waiting for the window hardware to come back from the brass refinishing shop.  However, after a new coat of paint, a mirror (our very first!) and a few decorative touches (thanks to my mom!) the bathroom looks significantly improved.  Again, we wonder why we didn’t do this ages ago.
