Garage Organization, Cars, Permits and Spring!

March 24, 2013

We have been working on lots of little projects for the last few weeks. Nothing too exciting sadly project wise. Lots of lawn and garden stuff, and a few parties since it is spring here!

Flowers are blooming, tomatoes are getting planted, it is definitely time for some spring cleaning project. One thing that has been bugging me for a while is the state of my garage. Too much stuff laying around and not enough organization. So I decided to clean up and put a bunch of new shelves in.

This took a lot of junk off the floor and let me convert my work bench into a folding bench that lays flat against the wall. The last step to finish the clean up is to put the table saw on a rolling base.

Now why would we want to do all this? Weeellll we have felt for a while like a it must be a rule that if you are living in Southern California you have to have a convertible. For the record, I wanted an unexciting, easy going convertible like a Saab 900 or a BMW 325i, or a Mazda Miata MX5. Alexandra would hear none of it and had her heart set on a small British sports car.

We have looked at about a dozen different Austin Healeys, Triumphs, and MGs. So far no luck, but if we do get one we will probably need space in the garage…. So that is why I need to have the saw on wheels and a folding work bench.

In other news we had a handful of permits still out so we had the inspector out to try to close them. We succeeded in closing one and got a nice long list of things to fix to close the rest. So we have a bit more work to do on kitchen electrical and other places before we are ready for a big project.
