About Us

Alexandra grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and went to college at Michigan Technological University where she studied Materials Engineering. She got her PhD from CalTech in Materials Science in 2014, and is now a post doc at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solid Materials in Dresden.

Alexander grew up about a mile from Alexandra in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He went to Michigan Technological University where he earned his degrees in Civil Engineering (BS and MS), and then went on to work as a geotechnical / tunnel engineer for Parsons Brinckerhoff in Los Angeles.

We both spent the past 5 years renovating an 1922 bungalow together in Pasadena, with a lot of help from friends and family. Now we’re headed off for a new adventure: living in Germany for a year!
